Sing in Harmony 2006

The history of barbershop singing goes back to the early 1900's, and it was first heard in America.
The art of barbershop singing is based on four voices, a 'quartet' Tenors, Leads, Baritones, and Basses. Each voice has its own melodic line, but always in harmony with other three. Sung correctly it produces some beautiful 'ringing' chords. Almost all types of songs can be arranged to suit the Barbershop style of singing, from Blues, to Beatles, to Ballads, and all kinds of love songs.

Historically, the Torrevieja club had a membership of about twenty to twenty-five but in January 2006 our Committee organized a ten week 'Learn to Sing in Harmony' teaching course. which was a tremendous success, resulting in an increase of the membership to its present day number of about sixty, with new faces appearing all the time. 'The Harmonisers' rehearse every Tuesday morning, please call either of the numbers below for more details. A warm welcome awaits any man who would like to come along and listen and hopefully to join us. We have members from Belgium, England, Germany, Holland, Ireland and Spain. So all nationalities are welcome. We do however sing in English. 

Our much talented and versatile Musical Director, Chas Smith, has a very unique way of getting the best out of any voice that wants to learn. So if you would like give it a try, come along and have a chat with us.

We also enjoy a very happy social side of life amongst our members, our social evenings allow the wives and girlfriends to get together and extend the harmony far beyond just the singing.

Our public performances are usually produced to raise money for various charities, so while we are enjoying ourselves singing, we try to help others that maybe not be so fortunate, to get the best out of their lives as well.
